What is an HRA Calculator?
An HRA Calculator works out how much of your house rent allowance is exempt from tax and how much is taxable, under the old tax regime.
The exempt HRA is the lowest of three amounts: the HRA you receive, rent paid minus 10% of salary, and 50% of salary in metro cities or 40% elsewhere. Salary here means basic pay plus DA that counts for retirement benefits.
